Protagonist: a bored, possibly lonely individual looking to shake up the rut they've gotten into as a citizen in a utopian future.

The sky's the limit, people used to say. Not in the year 2112: now you can be on holiday in Hawaii without ever leaving your home's personal holodeck, or take a cruise out to colonies on the moon if you get the urge to travel, or even just visit one of the roving, floating cities that act as orbiting pleasure palaces complete with parks, shopping malls, and amusement centers. But sometimes it's so hard to remember the wealth of opportunities to you with so much freedom. And it certainly can get a little lonely waking up day after day in your sky scraper home all by yourself. Run the treadmill, put in your two hours of work at the sprocket factory, watch the news: that still leaves you with an awful lot of free time. Maybe it's time you tried to find somebody to share it with, or at least shake yourself out of that awful rut you've gotten into...

I forget how many of these things we need for the dating sim. If we need one more, I think we should try to work in something maid/butler related since people have been requesting some kind of maid/butler/host thing for a while now. What do you think...?

Also, I'm not particularly proud of/think that these intros are very catchy, I just felt like I ought to provide something more substantial to work off of after making both you and lba do the bulk of the work these last few times. So if either of you feel like you can come up with something catchier pleeeeeaaase propose edits.

And obviously those images will need to be made a lot smaller. I was thinking maybe we could make all of the locale ones into thumbnails that if you click on them will open up a bigger version of the picture so people can see? It might seem silly to include these things, but I thought visual aids might make things a little easier/fun for people and a little more true to the way dating sims/otome games work.

...Also it might be worth encouraging people to deviate from the "cast" list if they think of something we didn't/didn't have room for but still fits the scene. For example, I thought elf or fairy would have made for an interesting addition to the fantasy one, but we already seemed to have a lot without any strain sooo.

If we're keeping the same exact number of tags, excluding the OOC explanation for how to play, I think that makes for seven tabs? Which means we have room for both I believe. I'll have to doublecheck of course but I think that's what I counted last.

We should probably look at / recompile the ooc / how to play notes. Neko had things set up so that people would play relationships with players earning "hearts" like points to get to the sexy end. Technically it's just a suggestion and nobody has to play that way, but it's very fitting with the theme... and frankly I like this idea. But I wonder if everyone will have that kind of patience? Should we ought to give an additional option for flexibility that allows players to "play from save point" so that people can skip to the sexy ending if they so choose? It sort of defeats the point of a Dating Sim if they skip all the build-up, but on the other hand, I'm wondering if we'll suffer lack of participation if people don't have the option to skip straight to sexy tiemz. What are your thoughts?

Something else I think we should encourage is flexibility... and approaching things in "stages?" If people just try to go at the relationship without doing time skips, man, they'll just be playing forever and getting nowhere. XD;

Also, might be important to encourage them to be as tropey / stereotypical as they want, unless you want me to add more information to the cast list depicting things like 'know-it-all' older sibling, 'baby' youngest sibling etc etc. idk /tired

Oh, one last thing I thought of, sorry. If you have any better ideas/options for images, please don't hesitate to pick something you feel fits better. I admit that there was just so much to it, I only did basic google image searching, which doesn't always lend to getting the best results.

We shouldn't have to put too much information about the tropes, as long as we make the stereotypical aspect the focus. I don't think the players need their hands held that much.

As for the hearts system, I like it, but I think we need to offer many options for that. The skip to sex option (cheat code, trigger all flags, etc) AND the build up. I think if we just mention it, it shouldn't be that big of a deal?

A cheat code! How funny; I really like that. How about two kinds of cheat codes--one that advances the player straight to the sex scene, or triggers an "alternate" sex scene (maybe one that the cast member would not normally play? something the player could define as being "outside the characters' normal comfort zone" but not something that they find offensive/squicky to play) and one that highlights all the correct flag answers? ... How about a cheat code that lets you get all the wrong answers and maxes out the skulls but still lets you have the sex scene? xD for the lulz and hate sex opportunities.

ex: cheat code brings a vampire over into suburbia, replacing the youngest sibling, and everybody keeps referring to him/her as the youngest sib. Or the background/settings for future world are put on wild west world and only the two characters are aware of it.

This might just be a personal thing (perhaps you were planning to do it already?) but is it possible to align the cast of characters and the locales in some kind of table so they're side by side instead of beneath one another?

I can think of one change that needs to be made to the OOC info I've drafted based on the front page. Just a really minor tweak though.

The reason I'm doing the thumbnails like that is because I want to put the locations beside them in text.

And IDK I think I'll leave the cast as is because this code is a nightmare as is.

Premise
The Love Hotel would like to present to you a little something for all those lonely hearts out there. Ubiquitously known as TLH: The Dating Sim, this program can be found on any of the computers around the hotel. For those too shy to be seen playing publicly, a laptop with the appropriate software can be delivered to their room. Expect the campy, the corny, the stereotypical: this is a dating sim after all. You may find as you play though you recognize the people playing the character you’re attempting to woo. And that’s no accident; the Hotel has used AI profiles of all its guests to build its character database! Beware, though, this game is probably more immersive than you’re used to; you may even forget you're just playing a game in the first place!

HOW TO PLAY…

The goal of a dating sim is to get to that very sexy, sexy end. However it’s not a guarantee, and as an homage to the genre, we’ve tried to keep in line with that! Every few posts, the person playing the cast member should create a “flag post.” This is a tag which seems normal but at the end gives the protagonist a list of two to four choices to pick from for reactions, making it an exciting, choose-your-own-adventure game that will advance or regress the relationship of the characters depending on the appropriateness of the action! So what happens when the protagonist picks an option?

a. Pick the “good” answer: get a heart on the cast member’s meter! ❤ (We recommend putting these in the cast member’s subject line to keep track of.) As you get more hearts, your target should become more affectionate (albeit in their own unique way).
b. Pick the “neutral” answer: nothing special happens, and the game continues as usual.
c. Pick the “bad” answer: Lose a heart, or enter the ☠ zone, which is a little lot like the friend zone, only worse. (Again, we recommend copying this symbol in the cast member’s subject line.)

CHEAT CODES
Everybody knows there’s always certain glitches or Easter eggs included in games that let you do things that the creators didn’t necessarily have (officially) planned. The Love Hotel’s Dating Sim is no different, and someone has been so kind as to leave you a list of possible codes. The following codes can be entered in at any time (with your partner’s permission) to trigger the following:

♋SMUTTALICIOUS♋: The simplest of the codes , this one just skips you straight to a sex scene.
♋SMUTTALICIOUS SQUARED♋: You thought four hearts was maxed out? Try sixteen. This code acts as a heavy aphro option, just in case you want your partner to be super head-over-heels for you.
♋NEVER SAY NEVER♋: Triggers a smut scene too but with the difference that this scene is one outside the cast member’s usual comfort zone! Ex: A stoic character brings you to a bed strewn with rose petals and candles. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not an excuse to do something outside your roleplay partner’s comfort zone. Please be open and honest and respectful of one another here!!
♋I HATE YOU BUT I LOVE YOU♋: This cheat code triggers both ‘dislike’ and a smut scene. Hatesex for the win!
♋IT’S COMPLICATED: Wrong answers earn you a skull and right answers earn you a heart, but they all stack together. Warning: May make for some very hot, but very confusing, sex.
♋FISH OUT OF WATER♋: Ever want to find out how a housewife of modern-day suburbia would take to being in a horror setting? The future? The wild west? For the lulz, lift your wooing partner out of their proper setting and into one of your choice.
♋HARDER AND LONGER BABY!♋: For the more experienced gamer, start the game off with your character in the negative zone earning half the hearts for each correct answer.
♋DOUBLE OR NOTHING♋: For those experienced gamers who just can’t be satisfied by one partner, try for two!
♋CODENAME COCKBLOCK♋: Perhaps you’ve maxed out all those hearts, but for some reason you’d like the PG-13 ending instead. We can do that, too!
